A visual summary of how partners are will bridge Indigenous knowledge and science into the IPM to estimate polar bear abundance.
At the recommendation of the Inuvialuit and Iñupiat Joint Commission for Polar Bears, Inuvialuit and Iñupiat knowledge is being bridged with western science in an integrated population model for polar bears.
This is a new approach. It means that what people see and experience on the land has the opportunity to directly affect the statistical model and abundance estimate.
